Solidification Microstructures in 3d-Transition Metal High Entropy Alloys with Cu Element

In this study, high-entropy alloys (HEAs) with Cu as the main constituent element were investigated, focusing on distribution of in ingots. Based taxonomy HEAs, those casting material classified (1) HEAs whose elements 3d transition metals, such Co, Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, and (3d-HEAs), (2) (HE) brasses based Cu–Zn alloy system HE bronzes Cu–Sn and/or Cu–Al systems. case 3d-HEAs Cu, ingots exhibited following tendency: (1-1) segregation from dendrite to residual liquid, resulting formation Cu-rich interdendritic regions ingots; (1-2) liquid-phase separation a which formed macroscopically phase-separated structure; (1-3) dispersion fine precipitates embedded solid solution matrix.
